Pilgrims Menus are a tasty and affordable way to refuel along the Camino. They nearly all include three courses, with wine or water for €10-12€.

Almost every house in St Jean Pied de Port has inscriptions above doorways. During the Basque Renaissance in the 1900’s these signs were used as the basis for Basque typography.

Sadly Donna’s trusty Scarpa’s circa 1980’s have been superseded by new materials and technology! Good footwear is essential, along with a few packs of Compede.

We pick up up our pilgrims passports and are ready to begin our journey. The passport identifies you as a pilgrim, and by collecting stamps along the way, provides proof that you have walked, cycled or ridden on horseback the journey to Santiago de Compostela.
